Key responsibilities and features of this job:   

·    To ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with the client and the client’s Health, Safety & Environmental requirements
·    To work with the team to grow the market share of the multi utility and infrastructure business through authorising and completing design of gas networks and associated pressure reduction equipment on a number of projects.
·    Playing a key co-ordination role on bids, gather financial information from statutory and independent network owners to formulate a cost base for projects.
·    Invite and assess prices from contractors and sub-contractors to undertake works.
·    Authorise detailed network designs on CAD system, produce reports and papers to support bids.
·    Act as GIRS technical advisor to the business, carry out on site audits and inspections in accordance with GIRS accreditation and company procedures.
·    To ensure that all market, regulatory and contractual requirements are met.
·    Represent the client on professional and registration bodies.

Strategy:

·    Develop new and enhance existing customer relationships that positively contribute to the company's reputation.
·    Maintain an active awareness of trends within the multi-utility connections marketplace and ensure that such trends inform future business.

Standards, processes and continual improvement:

·    Produce and maintain GIRS standards and policies for the business including: accreditations, records and bid governance and processes.
·    Ensure company compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, code of practice and guidelines.

Financial management:

·    Agree all project bids and budgets in accordance with the CDP process.
·    Ensure that contracts are properly costed at the outset and that effective cost control mechanisms are put in place with appropriate actions taken to correct anticipated variances.





Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience

Essential:

·    Possess the engineering qualifications (I.Eng or C.Eng) and membership of an appropriate technical body to act as a technical advisor and designer under companies GIRS accreditation.

·    A minimum of 5 years direct experience in gas network design and modelling within a utility organisation or consultancy for below ground and above assets up to IP (including schematics, layouts, regulator selection and construction).

o    Experience in load analysis and diversity.
o    Appropriate use of design software.

·    Worked within the non-regulated utilities sector or at least possess an understanding of this sector in particular GIRS requirements.

·    Exposure to bids or evaluating prices for utility network construction and connections, contestable and non-contestable.

·    Experience of costing contracts and of putting in place effective cost control mechanisms.

·    Knowledge of design tools required for gas design.

·    Posses safety & technical competencies to allow individual to act as our Authorising Engineer on routine and non routine operations up to 2 bar, up to 7 bar would be desirable.

Desirable:

It is desirable that you have:

·    Worked within a multi or single utility connections business that provides services to external as well as internal customers.

·    Able to use autoCAD-mapping systems.
